しばしば私は、特徴のあるリズムや音形を中心素材にして、なんらかの舞曲（ダンス音楽）を思い起こさせるような曲を書くことがあります。それは特定の国や地方など、実在する音楽に基づいているわけではなく、いうなれば架空の国（地方）の舞曲のようなもので、「曖昧な舞曲」とでも呼べばよいのかもしれません。半音の半分の音程である「4分音」を用いた特殊な調弦によって生み出される歪んだ響きを用いながら、この曲もそのような「偽舞曲」の形態をとっています。
I often write pieces that revolve around distinctive rhythms or melodic shapes, evoking some form of dance music. These pieces are not based on actual music from any specific country or region but rather resemble dance tunes from an imaginary land. You might call them “ambiguous dances.” This piece also takes the form of such a “pseudo-dance,” utilizing a distorted sound produced by a special tuning that incorporates “quarter tones,” which are intervals half the size of a semitone.
